The local community Virneburg with about 385 inhabitants is located in a valley - surrounded by the four mountains, Brauberg, Schafsberg, Mühlenberg and Bleiberg. In the center of the village, on another elevation, are the Virneburg castle ruins and, on the two upper floors of the former school building, the local history museum with documentation of Virneburg's history.
KOMM (derived from the word "communication") is a place for art, culture, music and encounters in Düren. The socio-cultural center is located in the old Pleußmühle, which can be recognized by its striking brick façade and the large water wheel at August-Klotzstr. 21 (just a 5-minute walk from the city center). Located directly on the mill stream, the water wheel produces green electricity for the Düren public utility company, while the KOMM "produces" culture.
