Eifel-Blick "Effelsdach"

As the name suggests, this Eifel view is located above the Rur in the Effelsley area at an altitude of 275 meters above sea level. This group of rocks stretches over a length of about one kilometer and consists of numerous rocks lined up close together. In the northern area, several smaller rocks are hidden in the forest, while to the south, mighty rock towers and walls rise up.

In a south-west to north-west direction, you have a view of the northern foothills of the Eifel National Park, the central Rur valley and beyond to the Rureifel plateau.


Directions
You can reach Nideggen from Düren and Heimbach via the L 249, from Aachener Land via the B 399 and L 11, from Monschauer Land via the L 246 and from the Cologne-Bonn area via the B 265 and L 11. Park at the Nideggen National Park Gate, Effels 9.

    Katholische Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus in Kottenheim

    The exact construction and origination times of the Catholic Parish Church of St. Nicholas are not known. A first church is expected to be in 1330, and further buildings are expected to be in 1406 and 1519. The tower was built in 1772.
