The Munich Guitar Trio, founded in 2008, brings together three extraordinary musical personalities: Thomas Etschmann, Alexander Leidoph, and Mikhail Antropov. The artists are united by a solid classical training as well as an openness to jazz, Spanish music, and sonic border crossings. Concert tours, international competition successes, and performances at renowned festivals have made the ensemble well known far beyond Germany. The program spans a fascinating arc from the Viennese Classical period to the present day. Works by Joseph Haydn, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz, and Gabriel Fauré meet South American timbres from Radamés Gnattali, as well as modern influences from jazz and world music. Chick Corea's legendary "Spain" and Patrick Roux's spirited "Carnaval" embody both rhythmic energy and virtuosic interplay. This results in a diverse concert evening full of elegance, passion, and Mediterranean sound poetry.
