Hiking with a feeling of happiness

The almost 75 kilometer long Lieser Trail accompanies the small, clear river over four stages from the Eifel heights to the Moselle. Those who hike along it experience that things can get really wild in the heart of Europe. Because as the landscape changes from a wide, rolling valley to rocky steep stretches with an alpine degree of difficulty to the vine-covered slopes of the Moselle valley, stress and noise are always far away.

The trail begins in Boxberg, near the highest elevations of the Volcanic Eifel. The rugged, almost Nordic-looking surroundings give way to a gentler, more southern atmosphere with every step. Time and again there are cozy places to stop for refreshments, where sweet and savoury refreshments are served. Sunny clearings and flowering meadows flank the path like a fairytale landscape. Spicy, fragrant mixed forest shares a secluded gorge with the Lieser.

Two castles watch over the river valley near Manderscheid, bidding hikers farewell as they enter the steepest, most unspoilt and exciting part of the trail.... On the last few kilometers, the gentleness of the Eifel near the Moselle with its small villages and vineyards envelops you until the Lieser flows into the Moselle.
