The beaver is a fascinating animal. As a true hydraulic engineer, it shapes its environment according to its own needs. This creates unique, varied landscapes characterized by beaver dams and lakes - landscapes full of life.
Today, fortunately, the beaver is once again native to many landscapes in Germany, including the Eifelrur in the northern Eifel. Here you can see in many places what the beaver can do when it builds dams and castles, creates canals for timber rafting and beaver meadows for feeding in order to create a tailor-made home for itself.
In doing so, the master builder of nature also creates a habitat for many other animals and plants, including those that have otherwise almost disappeared from the modern landscape - the beaver is therefore a true ecosystem engineer.
If you want, you can follow in the beaver's footsteps with one of our beaver guides. You can explore the habitat of the master builder, take a look at its most amazing structures and go in search of fresh gnaw marks, while our expert guides will tell you all sorts of interesting facts about the beaver.
In addition to our open dates, you can also arrange individual tours of the habitat with us all year round.
You can request guided tours via the contact form or directly from the Rureifel Tourismus GmbH booking office.
