In 1345, King John of Bohemia gave his citizens the right to surround their village of Dudeldorf with a town wall. Already 200 years ago, in 1794, the landowner Jacob Gohs was mentioned in a document as an "innkeeper and landlord". His granddaughter married the brewer and merchant Josef Servetius in 1836. The "Gohs" house, as the hotel is still popularly known today, was a hub of village life. The mail coachmen of the von Thurn und Taxis family stayed there on their way from Vienna to Brussels. The hotel's own brewery, where an ancestor of the Bitburger Simon family learned his trade, supplied the surrounding inns. Alois Servatius laid the foundation stone for the hotel in its current form in 1954. Anita and Marc van Oest took over the hotel in 2006. After a few minor renovations and redesigns of the restaurant, without destroying the traditional atmosphere, the brewery will reopen its doors at the end of April.
