KOMM (derived from the word "communication") is a place for art, culture, music and encounters in Düren. The socio-cultural center is located in the old Pleußmühle, which can be recognized by its striking brick façade and the large water wheel at August-Klotzstr. 21 (just a 5-minute walk from the city center). Located directly on the mill stream, the water wheel produces green electricity for the Düren public utility company, while the KOMM "produces" culture.
They are spread all over the Bitburger Land: the hiking and walking trails of the Bitburger LandGänge. From 2 to 8 kilometers, from easy to difficult, there is the right trail for every taste.
The "Erft" rises in the small village of Holzmülheim, directly below the Himberg. It flows from here in the direction of Bad Münstereifel until it flows into the Rhine after about 100 km near Neuss. The spring was framed with natural stones by the village community.There is also a small statue of St. John Nepomuk, who is venerated as a bridge saint and is supposed to protect against water hazards.
