Discover the magic of the wilderness
What happens to a forest when man does not intervene, but lets nature take its course? The "Wild Path" in the Kermeter in the middle of the Eifel National Park provides an answer to this question. A wide wooden walkway leads us along a 1.5 km nature discovery trail and to make sure we don't miss anything, we are accompanied by a certified National Park forest guide who knows his area inside out. He shows us the animals that live here in the forest, explains what happens to the dead wood and takes us on a walk through the "tree tunnel". We continue on a short hike through the mixed beech forest and listen to the gently rustling leaves. From the Hirschley, we look out over Lake Rursee - the water glistens in the sunshine and a light breeze brushes across our faces.
We find it hard to tear ourselves away from this view, but we still want to visit the "Wildnis(t)räume" adventure exhibition in the historic Vogelsang IP forum, which our forest guide has warmly recommended. But before we set off on our journey of discovery, we stop off at Gastro Vogelsang and enjoy the sweeping view over the valley. Refreshed and refreshed, we take a closer look at the exhibition. We feel what some of the animals in the national park feel like, sniff the plants and listen to the sounds of nature. We wander through the beech forest and are enchanted by the Eifel wilderness. The impressions from this day will stay with us for a long time in our everyday lives, and we are already planning our next visit.
