The municipality of Kehrig with its 1,210 inhabitants, is situated in a scenic location near the river Elz and offers many possibilities for hikers and cyclists with its beautiful views. Particularly worth seeing are the restored monastery ruins of Mädburg, which can be reached via the slate hiking trail, for example, as well as the parish church of St. Kastor and St. Katharina in the centre of the village.
The community of St. Johann with almost 1,000 inhabitants looks back on a long history. The Bürresheim Castle, which is part of the municipal area, offers its visitors a glimpse into bygone times. Other sights are the Barbarakapelle and the "Ahl", a historical quarry, which was created by the eruption of the Hochsimmer volcano.
