The game rules:

  1. Safety and consideration are the top priority: Only throw when the lane is clear and nobody can be hit nearby.
  2. The use of the facility is at your own risk.
  3. The goal of the game: Get to the basket with as few throws as possible from the throw-off.
  4. After all players in a group have made the throw-off, the player whose disc is farthest from the basket throws first.
  5. All throws are made from where the disc has landed.
  6. Players in a group should be considerate. They should only throw when it is their turn and the playing lane is clear. Other players should not be disturbed while throwing.
  7. The lane is finished when the disc remains in the catch basket.
  8. The player with the fewest throws on a lane begins at the next one.
  9. The player with the lowest total score from all lanes is the winner.
  10. More important than the best score is the fun of playing!

The correct grip:
The thumb lies on the top side of the disc, 3 - 5 cm from the edge. The index finger lies on the underside at the edge level with the thumb. The remaining fingers are slightly spread underneath the disc.

Throwing motion:
The throwing motion is written for right-handers; left-handers must throw mirrored.
Of all the different throwing techniques, you should initially use the backhand throw. This is the easiest to learn and the basic throw in disc golf. A distinction is made between throws on the lane (drive or approach) and the last throw at the basket (putt).

Drive:
The feet are lined up with the target. The foot of the throwing arm is in front, and one stands about shoulder-width apart. A run-up is not initially necessary; it is thrown from a standstill, with the weight on the back foot. The upper body is turned away from the target, with the throwing arm extended backward at chest height.
The upper body is then quickly turned back toward the front, pulling the throwing arm forward. The weight shifts from the back foot to the front foot. The disc leaves the hand at the moment when the throwing arm is fully extended and aimed at the target. The body motion does not stop; the body swings out dynamically.

Putt:
Since no great distances need to be achieved with a putt, the movement is not as dynamic but more controlled and precise. The feet are positioned a bit closer together, and the upper body is slightly bent forward. The upper body is not rotated; it remains in the starting position.
The throw is made almost exclusively from the arm, with the weight shift occurring as in the drive. When throwing, the upper body is straightened up, and the disc leaves the hand again at the moment when the throwing arm is fully extended and aimed at the target.
