The path to the Klidinger waterfall not far from Bad Bertrich is characterised by unspoilt, untamed nature. Once you arrive at the waterfall, you will discover a fascinating natural spectacle. The waterfall is particularly attractive in winter, when the cold conjures wondrous shapes from snow and icicles.


The water of the Klidinger Bach falls around 28 metres at the Klidinger Waterfall, the highest waterfall in the Eifel. Getting there requires surefootedness: the paths are narrow and wind tightly towards the waterfall. Once you have arrived, however, you will marvel at an impressive natural spectacle when the water plunges several metres into the depths, especially in the watery seasons. Ivy covers the rocks around the waterfall and gives it something fairytale-like. In winter, the waterfall is particularly fascinating, because then bone-chillingly cold temperatures shape the water into wondrous formations of ice.

    The Kottenheimer Winfeld is a former quarry area in the area of the municipality of Kottenheim and owes its origin to the eruption of the Bellerberg volcano about 200,000 years ago. Today, the idyllic pit landscape with its bizarre rock formations and relics from bygone times, such as crane bases and pit cranes, is part of the volcano park as a landscape monument.
