The Westwall was a military defense system approximately 630 km long along the western border of the German Reich, consisting of over 18,000 bunkers, tunnels, as well as countless trenches and anti-tank obstacles. It ran from Kleve on the Dutch border southward to the Swiss border. The facility was constructed by the Nazis between 1936 and 1940. Our hike leads to numerous remnants (bunkers, tank trenches, dragon's teeth) of the Westwall.
