Wanderung ab Tourist Information Stadt & Land
“The mill clatters by the rushing stream” - guided tour to the six former mills of the Säubrenner town.As part of the cultural-historical exhibition “Mills in Liesertal” at the Old Town Hall in the marketplace, the Tourist Information Wittlich City & Land and the Cultural Office of the town offer exciting tours along the six former mills in the urban area.
Hiking guide Albert Klein takes participants on a journey through the captivating history of the millers of Wittlich and the town's history shaped by hydropower. The approximately two-hour tour evokes nostalgic childhood memories of rattling mill wheels, swimming with fish in the natural swimming pool, and the scent of freshly baked bread. Anecdotes about the resourceful miller Anton, who built his mill on the electoral waters in 1739 without permission from the nobility, or about the rustic beer garden of the Viezmühle, which meant summer and bliss for many Wittlich residents: Albert Klein conveys a wink of the eye while sharing well-founded historical knowledge and revealing some well-kept secrets of the Wittlich miller families.
The excursions start at the Tourist Information and end at the former Viezmühle with tastings of Viez and freshly baked mill bread.
