Mandelring String Quartet - Masterpieces of Classicism and Romanticism

Since its founding in 1983, the Mandelring Quartet with Sebastian Schmidt (violin), Nanette Schmidt (violin), Andreas Willwohl (viola), and Bernhard Schmidt (cello) has been one of the leading international string quartets. Early awarded at the ARD Music Competition and the Premio Paolo Borciani, concert tours have taken the ensemble across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. As a guest of significant festivals and founder of the Hambacher Music Festival, the quartet has shaped international chamber music life for decades. Its own concert series in Neustadt a. d. Weinstraße and in the Berlin Philharmonic underline its artistic presence.

Particular recognition has been received for the complete performances of the Shostakovich quartets as well as the complete recording of Mendelssohn's string chamber music, which are considered reference recordings. Numerous award-winning CD productions document the sound culture and stylistic diversity of the ensemble.
