Art4SAX opens the concert weekend with a stylistic journey through several centuries of music history. The saxophone quartet spans a wide arc from the festive harmonies of the Renaissance – such as Gabrieli – through Bach and the tonal colors of Romanticism to modern compositions and jazzy collages. Works like Aquarelle, Pavane, Sevilla, or Celtic Collage demonstrate how versatile wind music can sound when reinterpreted through the warm, homogeneous saxophone sound.

After the break, the quartet continues the time travel into the present: film music, Gershwin, South American rhythms, and a winking Beatles moment make the evening light, lively, and surprisingly modern. A program that impressively shows how wind music has changed over the centuries – and how fresh it can sound today.
