Annamarkt 2027 – Düren’s History Comes to Life

From June 11 to 13, 2027, the historic Annamarkt will return to Düren. This popular event brings the city’s early 16th-century history to life and commemorates Saint Anne’s special significance to Düren.

The focus is on the story of the relic of St. Anne, which arrived in Düren in 1501 and soon turned the city into an important pilgrimage site. Prominent visitors such as Albrecht Dürer and Emperor Charles V also came to Düren during this period . These historical events provide the backdrop for a varied festival weekend.

A medieval market, historical crafts, music, performances, and a grand parade invite visitors to immerse themselves in times gone by. Groups in historical costumes bring the events surrounding these prominent visitors and the history of Düren to life in a special way.

A special highlight of the 2027 edition is the new production of a historical play that premiered as early as 1890 at what was then the Düren City Theater.

Following the last edition in 2019, the Annamarkt is set to take place every two years going forward, thereby once again becoming a fixture on Düren’s calendar of events. In addition to the Düren History Festival Working Group and the city’s event management team, Düren-based clubs, associations, schools, daycare centers, and private groups will also be involved in organizing the festival.
