Annakirmes Düren

The biggest Folk Festival in region, the famous Annakirmes, known well beyond the borders of Düren, brings in almost 1 million visitors and so it rightly deserves to be known as the highlight of the Düren event calendar! About 170 carnies, showmen and merchants turn the place at the river Rur into a colourful funfair world.

Start of the Annakirmes

On July 31, 2027, the Annakirmes will begin at 12:00 p.m. with three celebratory cannon shots, followed by free rides from 12:00 p.m. to 12:15 p.m.
This gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy this year’s Annakirmes attractions for free during the first 15 minutes.

The traditional tapping of the first keg will take place on opening Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in front of the “Hexenhof.”
It will be interesting to see how many strikes our mayor, Frank Peter Ullrich, needs to tap the first keg.

Cherry Pit Spitting Contest

World Championship in Cherry Pit Spitting

On Saturday, July 31, 2027, at 3:00 p.m. at the dog sports field on Rurdammweg (behind the roller coaster), the 49th World Championship in Cherry Pit Spitting will take place in three categories (men’s, women’s, and children’s competition up to age 14).

Senior Citizens’ Afternoon

This event will take place on Monday, August 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the “Hexenhof” on the Annakirmesplatz.

Family Day

On Tuesday, starting at 11:00 a.m., the ever-popular Family Day takes place.

Family Day is traditionally held on the Tuesday of the fair and is one of the best of its kind in the country! On this day, visitors can ride all the carousels for half price. There are also great deals at the vendor stands, game booths, and food and beverage outlets on this day. A visit to the Annakirmes is definitely worth it!

Rhenish Evening

Rhenish Evening on Wednesday, August 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the “Hexenhof.”

The Rhenish Evening at the Düren Annakirmes is an integral part of the Düren folk festival. For years, the Düren Carnival Festival Committee has organized a varied program with a great atmosphere and “crazy” music! Dance and music groups fill the three-hour program, bringing the carnival back to Düren for an evening on a hot summer day.

Admission is free!

Fireworks

The spectacular fireworks display on the Friday of the fair, starting after 10:00 p.m., lasts about 20 minutes and delights visitors to the Annakirmes anew every year.
