The Schönecker Schweiz nature reserve is an Eldorado when it comes to wild herbs and medicinal plants. Together with the llamas and our knowledgeable guides, you can discover edible wild herbs, medicinal plants or incense, which are collected in summer for the Rauhnächte in winter, depending on the season.

Then our herb hike with llamas is just the thing for you! Experience the unique diversity of nature in Schönecker Schweiz, hike together with the gentle llamas through the nature reserve and discover the fascinating world of local herbs.

The event begins and ends directly below the castle ruins of Schönecken on the pasture of the eifelnomaden. After an entertaining introduction, during which you will get to know the llamas and learn how to lead such an animal, you will set off on a two-hour hike into the nature reserve together with herbalist Lisa and an eifelnomaden guide.

Right at the start, we hike down into the valley of the Altburgbach stream. We are accompanied by orchards and the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes. We then climb the "Op Ischt" ridge and enjoy the sweeping views of the plateau. Sun-loving herbs and medicinal plants grow here, which are also quite easy to recognize, including the calming St. John's wort, the soothing yarrow and the fragrant meadow sage. We learn what active ingredients they contain, how to harvest them in the most environmentally friendly way possible and what options there are for preparing and using them.

When we return, a fire is already flickering in the fire bowls in front of our open stable. We use the wild herbs we have collected to make a delicious herb spread, which we eat straight away with toasted bread. There are lots of tips on how to make teas or extracts, for example, and how to dry smoked herbs properly.
