Feel the Freedom!   The newly furnished holiday flat "L' Extravagante im Garten von Schloss Schmidtheim" offers wonderful peace and quiet in a special house: a historic villa from the 19th century. This lovely flat boasts plenty of space and light and natural materials such as wood and stone make the foundation for our guests' relaxation. The high ceilings offer room to breathe, and give this exceptional accommodation a castle flair. Huge windows provide wonderful brightness and the feeling of being part of the natural spectacle taking place outside. A small terrace with its own garden and a view of the large orchard invite you to observe, relax and enjoy. Active holiday guests will also get their money's worth: Just a step out the door and through the red garden gate - kilometres of hiking and cycling trails await to be discovered.   If desired, we are happy to extend an invitation to visit the castle courtyard and park opposite the holiday home. Please get in touch.   LOCATION:   The holiday flat "L' Extravagante im Garten von Schloss Schmidtheim" is located on the ground floor of the villa - in the middle of the Eifel and is surrounded by pure nature. It is only a stone’s throw away from Schmidtheim Castle and is found directly across from the Castle Gardens. Upon arriving, we recommend that our guests take a leisurely discovery walk. About 300 metres from the holiday home is a forest path that leads to a picturesque pond. You should plan about one hour for the way there and back.   For the following days of your stay, you can choose between a diverse range of excursions and hikes offered by Nord Eifel Tourismus. You will find a brochure in the holiday flat. You are also welcome to ask us for tips and excursion destinations at any time. Our family has lived at Schmidtheim Castle for more than 500 years. From the narrow Rur valley, head east (clockwise) up to the edge of the Börde. From there, the route continues undulating to Hergarten. Different vegetation, wide forest paths, steep trails and several ups and downs make this tour a very long and varied, but moderately difficult panoramic ride. You can start from the parking lots at the Heimbach or Abenden national park gate stations, at the Eschauel bathing beach or north and south of the Schwammenauel dam.

Welcome to Haus in Esch, a group accommodation for 1-13 adults. The house is equipped with a large eat-in kitchen, a second fridge/freezer combination, 5 bedrooms each with a double bed 1.8 x 2 metres. There is an additional sofa bed in 3 of the rooms, so that there is room for up to 13 people in total. There are also two bathrooms with shower and 2 separate toilets.If you are travelling with less than 9 people, fewer bedrooms can be made available by the host if required, so that a corresponding discount can be granted.In the surrounding area there are many opportunities for leisure activities, cycling and hiking trails as well as the Freiliger See 14 km away. The 7th stage of the Eifelsteig is also within walking distance. There is a large meadow behind the house and there are enough garden furniture. There is also a room for storing bicycles. Everyday necessities are available in Jünkerath, 4 km away, and there is also a train station there. W-Lan is available throughout the house and in parts of the outdoor area.
