Natur-Schutz-Treffen Wacholderwacht Osteifel

Juniper heathlands, Vordereifel region

2:00 PM

The juniper heaths in Arft, Langscheid or Virneburg, among others, are a real "insider tip" of the Vordereifel. Today they are home to a variety of protected animal and plant species, which can be explored on a guided tour with the Wacholderwacht Osteifel.

A central component of this work is regular operations where larches, pines, and birches are removed to protect the juniper populations and maintain open heath areas. These so-called clearing actions are necessary to promote biodiversity and secure habitats for rare plant and animal species.

The events are aimed at anyone interested in nature who wants to get actively involved – regardless of whether they have prior knowledge or not. Tools will be provided; only work gloves need to be brought along. In addition to the actual nature conservation work, the meetings also offer opportunities for exchange, networking, and a sociable conclusion in a relaxed atmosphere.

Everyone who enjoys community engagement and a connection to nature can participate. The juniper watch welcomes every helping hand.

The meeting point is currently always the juniper wagon in Arft.
