While Schinderhannes was celebrated as a hero of the poor in the Hunsrück, there was a counterpart on the Eifel side leading a no less furious gang. It was a man named Hans Bast and his associates, who formed the Mosel gang. Particularly in the milling milieu, this Mosel gang wreaked havoc.

Their latest collection of stories, "The Mosel Gang. Tales," was created as part of their work as a course instructor for the Cochem Adult Education Center at the Moselle. The reader not only learns the true tales of robber bands from days gone by, but also plenty of eerie stories from some well-known places in the Eifel and along the Moselle, which are now magnets for attractive hiking trails, interesting natural and cultural monuments, as well as good wines, delicious food, and many other options for relaxation and diversion.
