But soon, around the Kneipp spa town of Bad Münstereifel with its picturesque historic town center and probably the most comfortable city outlet in Germany, the full wildness of the Eifel becomes apparent. Deep, forest-lined valleys accompany you all the way to the alleyways of Blankenheim with the source of the Ahr. High into the volcanic Eifel, the route then leads to Gerolstein, whose Helenenquelle spring is proof of the fountain town's fame: pure mineral water.

Bitburg in the south of the Eifel is nestled in a lovely hilly landscape. The world-famous Bitburger brewery opens its doors to visitors with an experience center. The route continues through the German-Luxembourg border region, always close to the water, to the ancient imperial city of Trier with its wealth of world heritage sites. The vineyards of the Moselle accompany cyclists downstream to the mouth of the Lieser, on the banks of which lies the old market town of Wittlich.
