For centuries, Aachen Cathedral, which the devil also had a hand in building, was the coronation site of German kings and emperors. On a city tour through historic squares and narrow alleyways, you will learn more about the many facets of the city in the border triangle of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

The Vennbahn is one of the longest railroad cycle paths in Europe and leads through Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg with few gradients.

After the hustle and bustle of Aachen, the former abbey town of Kornelimünster offers a medieval backdrop. An interplay of borders begins in the German-Belgian border region. You cross the border between Belgium and Germany several times on this stage, before reaching the former cloth-making town of Monschau with its idyllic half-timbered houses, narrow alleyways and cobblestones. You should definitely try the Monschau specialties: mustard, Printen and Dütchen.

Between Monschau and Waimes, you get a first impression of the unique moorland landscape of the High Fens - which also gives the Vennbahn its name.

You shouldn't miss out on the fried delights of the Belgians: the Belgian fritter, which you can get at one of the numerous "fritures". The last stall before crossing the German border again is of course also signposted from the cycle path.

The Eifel-Ardennes cycle path runs along a former railroad line that was built in imperial times. It is still a symbol of the close ties between this region in the heart of Europe and also geographically connects the mountain plateau of the Ardennes with the Eifel.

The Prüm, the second longest river in the Eifel after the Kyll, accompanies this stage to the destination of Bitburg. In the Prüm valley near Holsthum - the only hop-growing region in Rhineland-Palatinate - hop plants grow up to 8 meters high.
