Münstermaifeld

Münstermaifeld invites you to visit the old town and museum The small town of Münstermaifeld with its imposing collegiate church towers high above the gently undulating hills of the Maifeld. A stroll through the narrow streets with their impressive courtyards and town houses leads back to an eventful history. A new signposted is a historic city tour that starts at the tourist information on Münsterplatz. There you also get a folding plan for the city tour. Along the city tour there are information boards at numerous buildings with a short description and a QR code with which you can call up detailed information on your smartphone (provided that you have mobile internet). City tours take place every Sunday and public holiday at 2 p.m., from April to November 1. The meeting point is the tourist information. Two museums invite you to visit the historic Propsteig buildings: the focus of the new Maifeld Archaeological Museum is the significant discovery of a Franconian burial ground on the forecourt of the Münstermaifelder collegiate church. Around 550 burial sites, some of which are very encased, were uncovered there. The home and adventure museum showcases shops and workshops from the 1920s to 1950s that have been faithfully furnished.

Eltz Castle - the fairytale castle in the Eifel forest

High towers, picturesque oriels, protective walls and a deep castle moat amaze visitors when the well-preserved medieval castle appears out of nowhere on one of the hiking trails - e.g. the award-winning dream trail "Eltzer Burgpanorama". The interior holds some well-preserved treasures: the imposing knights' hall, the armoury and treasure chamber or the bedrooms, living rooms and writing rooms. All this can be experienced on a guided tour between April and November.
