Experience Roman history on the hiking trails of the Eifel

Remnants of the Eifel's Roman history can be found all over the Eifel. The Roman Empire extended to the Eifel from 54 BC. The Romans built roads, hostels, thermal baths, settlements and market squares. A masterpiece of Roman engineering is the Roman aqueduct, which is over 100 km long. This longest aqueduct north of the Eifel supplied the inhabitants of Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium (now Cologne) with fresh water from the Eifel.

Experience history actively
You can still discover traces of the Roman era in many places in the Eifel today. The Roman roads connect the ancient sights with each other. After all, what better way to understand the ingenious construction of a Roman water pipeline than by following it on foot?
