Monreal, the village of timbered houses

Monrael, a city formerly known for drapery, has 785 inhabitants and does not only offer beautiful timbered houses, the two picturesque ruins of the castles “Löwenburg” and “Philippsburg” and the rivulet Elz but also tracks for cycling (Eifel-Schiefer-Radweg) and hiking (Traumpfad Monrealer Ritterschlag) through a virgin nature.

The historic centre of the village is well worth seeing, particularly the “Viergiebelhaus” (house of the four gables) that serves as town hall these days where couples can celebrate the marriage.

Visitors can book a guided tour to dive into the diversified history of Monreal or just relax while ambling through the narrow alleys.
