The Heimbach International Academy of Art is a recognized educational and training institution for artistic creation in the visual arts in the Rhineland. Its aim is to awaken and promote the creativity of people of all generations, nationalities and professions. Under academic direction, 55 first-class lecturers from 15 nations with excellent teaching skills impart knowledge and techniques in the individual art genres (painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, photography, film, video, performance). The lecturers familiarize students with materials, composition methods and work processes in their respective artistic subject. They accompany the students from the idea of a work to its completion, help them to discover their personal artistic expressiveness and support the development of an individual formal language. In addition to practical instruction, art theory and art history are also taught. The studios are located in the thousand-year-old Hengebach Castle high above Heimbach and at the foot of the castle in the "Haus zum Burghof". The art academy is completely barrier-free, as panoramic elevators connect both levels. The studios are generously equipped, modern and bright. The magnificent view over Heimbach and the wonderful surrounding landscape provides inspiration in many places. The appropriate equipment is available for all techniques (e.g. welding, burning, printing, analog photography, video editing, etc.). Age-appropriate courses, structured according to ability, are suitable for advanced study: Professionals, ambitious amateurs, students preparing to study at state art academies or working people looking for a creative boost - all are welcome, whether with or without experience in art. Well over 3000 students have already attended the courses, workshops and seminars. Regular exhibitions of works by lecturers and students, art exhibitions, special events (film premieres, poetry readings, concerts, cabaret, academy festival, kick-off day, International Museum Day, etc.) and guided tours are all part of what the Heimbach Art Academy has to offer.
