Rundwanderweg des Naturpark Südeifel Nr. 48 - Sinspelt-Mettendorf
Sinspelt
A hiking route through the Enz and Alsbach valleys. A particular highlight is the "Rote Puhl", where the Enz has dug deep into the red sandstone.
This hiking trail leads through the Alsbach and Enz valleys, which characterize it as almost parallel "sibling valleys" and are only separated by the Hinkelberg. The Alsbach valley as a small "sibling" with its slightly undulating and gently undulating valley flanks invites you to take a break, for which there is an opportunity at the barbecue hut with water treading pool and comfortable loungers. As you hike over the ridge, the plateau offers sweeping views to the west. Through beech forest with ferns as tall as a man, you return to the Enz valley. There, wide views of the floodplain dominate the picture. The "Rote Puhl" is a special spectacle. Here, the Enz has carved its way into a red sandstone wall, which is surrounded by intense greenery and shines particularly charmingly in the sun and evening light.
You can take a break or round off the route in Sinspelt at the Heyenhof farm café or in Mettendorf at the Kickert restaurant and "Im Fronhof".
Highlights along the way:
- Mettendorf with the parish church of St. Margaretha
- Former cemetery with school forest
- romantic Alsbach valley with water treading pool and barbecue hut
- "Roter Puhl" as a sandstone slope of the Enz river
