Konvikt - Haus der Kultur
With Rhythm Riot, the German pianist and composer Christian Pabst, who lives in Italy, presents his latest and now sixth album, which has been nominated for the German Record Critics' Award, among others.
Concert
The work recorded in the Cologne loft exudes a powerful kinetic energy, driven by the telepathic interplay and the unique melodic language of this top-class European piano trio.
During the creation of the album, Pabst continually confronted the question of what music can mean in a world that is constantly aflame and filled with conflicts.
Thus, the newly created compositions by Pabst celebrate a very personal rhythm riot: a rhythmic protest that consciously sees music and creativity as a powerful counterpoint to the dark and destructive tendencies of our society. He is supported in this by his two long-time companions and veterans of the European jazz scene. The JazzEcho award winner André Nendza on double bass and Erik Kooger, one of the most sought-after drummers in the Netherlands, complete this perfectly attuned trio.
