Vulkankrater Papenkaule

Gerolstein

The volcanic activity on the Munterley had several eruptions, the most prominent being the crater of the Papenkaule. The volcano crater is about 80 meters wide and 20 meters deep.

The volcano crater ''Papenkaule'' is all year accessible.

War memorial Stadtkyll

The Stadtkyll war memorial was erected in 1934. The memorial was designed by Professor Emil Fahrenkamp, an architect and university lecturer who was head of the art academy in Düsseldorf from 1937 to 1946. It commemorates the 30 soldiers from Stadtkyll who lost their lives in the First World War. Their names are engraved on the sarcophagus in the memorial crypt.

Burgruine - Glaadt

In the Middle Ages, Glaadt was even more important than Jünkerath, which at that time was only a hut settlement. For this reason, the counts of Blankenheim built a castle there in the 13th century, which was rebuilt into a magnificent hunting lodge at the beginning of the 17th century. However, a lightning strike in the 18th century caused it to burn to the ground.
