The hut was built in the 1920s by Nikolaus Stadtfeld, the owner of the Heidsmühle at the time. He named it after his wife Maria. It stood near the Heidsmühle. When the restaurant was later extended to include a garden restaurant, the hut was moved to its current location. In 2014, the hut was completely rebuilt and has been an integral part of the Kleine Kyll mindfulness trail ever since.
