Burgruine - Glaadt
Jünkerath
In the Middle Ages, Glaadt had even greater importance than Jünkerath, which was only a cottage settlement at that time. That is why the earls of Blankenheim erected a castle there in the 13th century, which was converted into a magnificent hunting castle at the beginning of the 17th century. However, it was burned to the ground by a lightning strike in the 18th century. Only when in 1967 the collapse-endangered ruin threatened to be demolished completely, the renovation began and lasted until 1989. In the area around the ruins are also still the former moat and the approximate extent of the system indicated by remnants of the walls and clearly visible.
