Geological, historical and botanical features in Schönecker Switzerland. Around 400,000 million years ago, the ancient Devonian sea roared and left its fossil traces here. The Schwindbach in the water-permeable limestone disappears underground as if by magic and reappears after several hundred meters. The limestone grassland, which is under conservation, shows the typical vegetation in the Eifel over a hundred years ago, just as regional farming farming over centuries gave rise to the landscape-defining image of the Eifel. The history of the Eifel Forest can be clearly understood in many places. The connection is shown in an informative way on a guided hike. Backpack provisions recommended, not suitable for strollers, not barrier-free, a climb, suitable footwear required.
