On 14 and 15 December, the historic town centre of Monreal will once again host the traditional "Urige Adventsmarkt" (rustic Advent market) in a very special pre-Christmas atmosphere.
The four-gabled house and the picturesque half-timbered houses provide the perfect backdrop for the colourful market activity on the Monreal market square below the two Monreal castles - Löwensburg and Philippsburg. 
At the opening of the market on Saturday, the first Christmas carols are sung by some of Monreal's children and the Christmas trees are decorated with home-made tree decorations.
Regional craftspeople and artists as well as culinary delights offer the perfect opportunity to look for suitable gifts in a relaxed atmosphere. A special feature of the Advent market in Monreal is that the stalls sell mainly handmade items, including nativity figures, turned items, honey products, jewellery, homemade soaps, sewing, knitted and woollen items. The food and drink on offer includes brandies and liqueurs, mulled wine, children's punch, roasted almonds, waffles and coffee, beef with remoulade sauce and marrow dumpling soup. On Sunday, the Christ Child comes and delights children and adults.
In addition, the Monreal castle band plays Christmas carols every year.
