Nideggen
Around 200 routes await fans of open-air climbing in the Rur valley. The climbing massifs are between 10 and 45 meters high and are made of shining red sandstone, and each route has a steep ascent. The pebbles protruding from the sandstone usually offer good holds and footholds. Hirtzley, Effels and Hinkelsteine are some of the names of the rocks near Nideggen where you can test your strength and dexterity. As bizarre and imposing phenomena, they are both leisure attractions and part of a sensitive habitat. They are home to eagle owls, wall lizards and bats, for example. In order to protect them, the number of ascents is limited and the climbing rules below apply.
The Aral petrol station in Nideggen and the Nideggen National Park Gate are available on site as points of sale, as a climbing ticket must be purchased in order to climb the four approved rock areas of Effels, Hirtzley, Erster to Vierter Hinkelstein and Zwei Brüder. The climbing ticket can also be reserved online - with pick-up at the Nideggen National Park Gate.
The cost of the climbing ticket is €5.00 per day for adults and €3.00 for children and young people. The ticket serves to guarantee the maximum number of 150 climbers per day approved for the protection of nature. The costs of the tickets are partly used by the town of Nideggen to cover expenses and to finance the work in the climbing area (hook renovation). Further information can be found on the town's homepage (www.nideggen.de).
We wish you safe tours and the most beautiful views!
