Circular hike: Schmidt panoramic circuit [40]

On this route, the name says it all: you will be rewarded with the most beautiful views and vistas around Schmidt. During the hike, let your gaze wander over the national park, into the distant Siebengebirge mountains and over the picturesque Rursee lake and enjoy the sweeping views of the beautiful natural surroundings.

Overview: The route is 14 kilometers in total and has an easy ascent and descent of 216 m. You will need around 3:30 hours for the circular hike. The start and finish are at St. Hubertus Church / Sankt Mokka (Monschauer Str.).

Details:

- From the starting point, you walk across the village square towards the sports field in Kommerscheidt.

- You will then come across remnants of the Second World War. War bunkers and memorial crosses are reminders of this dark period in history.

- You then reach the first viewpoint "Schöne Aussicht" with a view of the blue Rursee and its island of love. A little later, the next unique panoramic view awaits you on the Hubertushöhe. Tip: don't forget to take a few group photos at both viewpoints.

- Continue your leisurely hike via Scheidbaum into the idyllic Schlehbachtal valley to Harscheidt.

- You cross the B 399 and return to the starting point via the heights of Schmidt.

- Now you have time to fortify yourself with a hearty lunch in Schmidt. Enjoy your meal!
