Rurseeblick [50]
Nideggen-Schmidt
Circular hike: Rurseeblick [50] - Off to the lake!
This hike is all about the idyllic Rursee lake. Blue water, gentle paths, wonderful panoramic views and therefore unique photo backgrounds - sounds good? Let's go!
What's it all about? A circular hike with a distance of 6.5 km. The easy hike takes about 2 hours and has an ascent and descent of only 160 m. You start and finish the route at St. Hubertus Church (St. Mokka). Tip: You can also easily reach the church by bus (line 210). A car is therefore not absolutely necessary for this hike.
Highlights: The best thing about the route is and remains the picturesque view of the lake. Take your first souvenir photo at the Eifel viewpoint "Schöne Aussicht". More snapshots follow on the Hubertushöhe. In the background you can see the island of love, where many a man has found the love of his life.
By the way, did you know that the Rursee is the second largest reservoir in Germany?
Dark moments in history: On the hike, you will also come across a bunker from the Second World War. You can find out more about the war in the Eifel at the St. Hubertus Church at the end or beginning of your route.
The End: The excursion into nature quickly comes to an end. Now you still have time to stroll through Nideggen's district of Schmidt and fortify yourself after the hike. On summer days, you can also take a dip in the cool water, for example at Sonnenstrand Eschauel.
