Rundweg Geisenmühle - RKre1
Kretz
Directions:
From the parking lot, turn left down the main road. Then turn right twice, first into the street "In der Hohl" and then into Hahnenwiesenweg. Walk along the "Krufter Bach" stream until you see a pedestrian bridge on the left, which you take. Once on the other side, follow the road until a small path joins it on the right. Follow the path along the "Krufter Bach", crossing a road. At the end of the park with a small soccer pitch, keep left and then turn right onto Plaidter Weg. Follow this until it turns into Kondstraße, paying no attention to the roads that branch off. Continue straight ahead along Kondstraße until you reach the crossroads where the Wingertskapelle chapel is on the left. Follow the road "Wingertsberg" up to the left onto the "Korret". At the top, you will see the Johanneskapelle chapel slightly above you. Follow the path straight ahead and keep right at the next opportunity. With a wonderful view, the path continues around the Korret until you reach the junction towards Kretz, which you follow to the right down into the village. After passing the Zöller company, you pass a bridge before you come to the "In der Hohl" road again. Follow this for a while and then turn left into the main road, which you follow straight on back to the church.
Places of interest along the way:
St. Marien Church: St. Mary's Church was built in 1868 in neo-Gothic style and was extended in 1960. The church is dedicated in "honor of the birth of Mary". Inside there is a statue of the Madonna from the 13th century.
St. John's Chapel at the Korret: Dr. Jean Schmitz had St. John's Chapel built in 1936 out of gratitude for returning home from the First World War in good health.
