Directions:
Follow the path on the right up past the parking lot, past the Schützenhalle until you reach the country road (L116). Cross the road and then turn left along the road. Now turn right onto the forest path towards the barbecue hut. Pass the barbecue hut and follow the path uphill until you reach a field. Turn right there and follow the path to the left past the outskirts of Nickenich until you reach a beautiful chapel. Turn left here and follow the path along the lava works. Pass the first fork and take the second left uphill towards the forest. At the top, you will be greeted by a fantastic view of the Rhine Valley. Follow the path straight ahead through the coniferous forest and then turn left through a birch grove past a refuge. After the grove, turn left and then keep right, where you will see the ruins of the "Heimschule" school. The path continues straight ahead, past the "Trees of the Year" and the "Celtic Tree Circle", which invites you to take a short break. Turn right onto the path opposite the entrance to the tree circle. Follow the path to the country road (L116), cross it and keep left at the next crossroads. The path now winds downhill back to Nickenich and the parking lot.

Roman tombThe Gallo-Roman tomb dates back to the 1st century AD. It is proof that despite the conquest of the Rhine zone by the Romans, the local Celtic population retained their ethnic customs for a long time.
Celtic tree circle & trees of the year: The Celts attributed various properties to the trees and divided the year into time phases. People were assigned the corresponding tree characteristic depending on their birthday.
