Nestled in the Nims valley lies the historic castle town of Schönecken, with the ruins of Schönecken Castle towering high above the town. Traditional craftsmanship, clubs and customs have characterized the castle town since the Middle Ages.
The Schönecken Panorama Trail leads through the Schönecker Schweiz nature reserve and the Altburgtal valley, surrounded by a variety of orchids and lilies, a juniper heath and vast wild garlic meadows.Geological features such as the "Wetteldorfer Richtschnitt", which is known as a geological reference point for the transition from the Lower to the Middle Devonian period, and various fossil remains are special features along the way.
A highlight is the XXL bench with a wonderful view of the Burgflecken, where you can relax, let your gaze wander and enjoy the peace and quiet.
