Panoramaweg Eppelsberg - Geopfad Route N
Nickenich
You start at the Roman burial site and take the path on the left up to the fork in the path, where you keep left and then immediately left again. The path leads past the "Black Wall". At the next fork, the path makes a detour to the Hermanshütte, where an impressive view awaits you. Now follow the lower path around to the right to the "Eppelsberg" landscape monument. Passing wooden sculptures, the path leads first left and then right towards the forest lake. Take the left-hand path next to the gate (entrance to the forest lake) and then turn left and then immediately right. The path leads steeply uphill to a path where you keep to the right before turning left shortly afterwards in serpentines to the "Teufelskanzel" viewpoint. The left-hand path now leads uphill in a right-hand bend. Stay on this path, making a small detour via the refuge at the Krufter Ofen. Then you come to a fork in the road, where you keep left. Turn right at the next crossroads. Follow the tarmac path to the left until the next fork, where you turn right onto the high-altitude circular trail and catch sight of Lake Laach. At the fork on the left, past a reddish tuff quarry, the path leads you onto another forest path, where you also keep left and reach the Aarefeldhütte. Take the right-hand path downhill and keep right at the next junction. The path now winds straight downhill back to Nickenich and the parking lot.

Consideration and correct behavior in the nature reserve:
Natural landscapes such as Lake Laach offer a very special experience. Whether on foot or by bike - on beautiful days, nature lovers flock to beautiful places like Lake Laach. Unfortunately, this is often not without consequences. Sports and recreational use can affect sensitive habitats and can also be a disturbance factor for many animal species. Consideration for nature is therefore becoming increasingly important - not least in order to preserve the experience value of the landscape for everyone. In order to counteract unnecessary noise and protect hikers and walkers, recreationists are requested to use only the designated parking spaces.
