HeimatSpur Lavaweg Deudesfeld
Deudesfeld
Hiking on the lava of the Eifel volcanoes
An almost ten-kilometre-long, easy circular hike starts in Deudesfeld and leads to one of the most beautiful places in the volcanic Eifel: the Landesblick viewing tower, which offers a spectacular view of Meerfeld with its lily-fringed maar and the unmistakable volcanic group of the Mosenberg. A lava pit at the start of the trail gives an idea of the enormous forces that lie dormant in the earth here and gave the landscape its shape. The trail leads from the lofty heights down into the valley of the Kleine Kyll, lined with dense forest.
Here, the hectic pace of modern life is far removed. Surrounded by meadows, the 18th century Bleckhausen mill has preserved its mill wheel and is well worth a break to enjoy the peace and quiet. Through the quaint Speicherbach valley, you return to the tranquil village of Deudesfeld, nestled in the valley, where the tradition of warm Eifel hospitality is alive and well in the Zur Post hotel restaurant.
