Three maars and a lot of knowledge

Natural history hike around the Dauner Maare
On this circular hike in the heart of the Vulkaneifel, we explore the three well-known Maars: Schalkenmehrener, Weinfelder, and Gemündener Maar. You will learn a lot about the volcanic origin of this diverse landscape with its lakes, forests, moors, colorful meadows, and much more. The different habitats in close proximity create a great diversity of species. Along the hiking route, selected plant species will illustrate the various habitats. Special attention will be given to the bird species found here. Binoculars and a camera should definitely be in your backpack. Trail length is approximately 10 km; sturdy footwear and rain protection are recommended. Please bring your own food.
