St.-Salvator-Basilika Prüm
Concert of the Westeifel Chamber Choir in the Basilica of St. Salvator.
Concert
The Chamber Choir of Westeifel, in collaboration with the parish of Prümer Land St. Maximin, presents this year's spring concert of the Chamber Choir of Westeifel.
Under the title "Love Overcomes – Songs for Lent," the choir, which has been significantly rejuvenated with musicians from the Regino Gymnasium and is conducted by its new artistic director Alexandra Becker, will perform a blend of classical and modern motets, culminating in the dynamic gospel song Elijah Rock by Jester Hairston, who passed away in 2000 and was known for his spirituals and choral works. Additionally, well-known pieces will be performed, such as those by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and the moving Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber, which became famous as a soundtrack in films like Platoon and Amélie. A special highlight is also the Catinque de Jean Racine, with which the very young French composer Gabriel Fauré achieved his breakthrough.
