Altstadt Buchhandlung
Reading of Clara Viebig's "Vom Müller Hannes" with Manuel Klein
On the occasion of the exhibition "Mills in the Liesertal" at the City Gallery in the Old Town Hall, the Altstadtbuchhandlung Wittlich, in cooperation with the Cultural Office of the City, invites you to a special literary event.
On Thursday, April 16, at 7:00 PM actor Manuel Klein will read from the novel "Vom Müller Hannes" by the writer Clara Viebig.
The novel, first published in 1902, tells the impressive story of Müller Hannes, who lived around 1880 at the Middle Mill near Meerfeld. The plot is closely connected to the landscape and the people of the Eifel, drawing on a tale that, according to Viebig, was orally transmitted for a long time. With her atmospheric language and her sensitivity to regional stories, Clara Viebig is one of the significant representatives of literary naturalism.
Manuel Klein was born in Wittlich in 1977. After training at the Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich, he was engaged at the Oldenburg State Theatre for five years, from 2006 to 2014 he performed at the Landestheater Linz, and then moved to the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. Since 2017, he has been working freelance and has appeared on stage at the Landestheater Dinkelsbühl, the Altstadttheater Ingolstadt, the Theater Erfurt, at the SommerKomödieErfurt, and at the Theater im Gewölbe Weimar. Since August 2023, he has been a member of the acting ensemble of the Theater für Niedersachsen Hildesheim. Manuel Klein performs with numerous reading programs, works as a speaker on stage and at the radio microphone, and also acts as an acting teacher and workshop leader.
The reading will take place at the Altstadt Buchhandlung Wittlich and combines literature and regional history for a special cultural evening.
