Expedition to the Bad Bertrich Volcano Field

Once, things were very lively around Bad Bertrich: No less than nine volcanoes were active here. They formed sharply rising cinder cones or carved deep craters into the landscape. Germany's only Glauber's salt spring at 32 degrees is a testament to this volcanic activity. Lava flows and caves are other remnants.
On this expedition into the Bad Bertrich volcanic field, we will learn not only about this geological heritage but also about the Devonian basement, the different forests that are utilized today. We will enjoy some fantastic views and hear about the history of the region, its land, and its people. We will be guided by the Geo-Route Bad Bertrich, which is considered one of the most attractive hiking trails in the region.
