Enjoy the unique atmosphere on the highest volcano in the Western Eifel at almost 700 meters above sea level. The Ernstberg Panorama Trail takes you past rugged basalt and lava rocks, through a largely natural forest with mighty old beech trees. The many different mosses covering the rock formations and the numerous large tinder sponges on the old trees create a fairytale atmosphere. Here I also talk about the great importance of deadwood for a healthy forest and the very special vegetation (e.g. moon violets) of the Ernstberg. Afterwards, we enjoy the impressive panoramic view of the volcanic landscape from the "Eifelblick" before returning to the parking lot.
