Ortsgemeinde KehrigThe municipality of Kehrig with its 1,210 inhabitants, is situated in a scenic location near the river Elz and offers many possibilities for hikers and cyclists with its beautiful views. Particularly worth seeing are the restored monastery ruins of Mädburg, which can be reached via the slate hiking trail, for example, as well as the parish church of St. Kastor and St. Katharina in the centre of the village.
Ortsgemeinde VirneburgThe local community Virneburg with about 385 inhabitants is located in a valley - surrounded by the four mountains, Brauberg, Schafsberg, Mühlenberg and Bleiberg. In the center of the village, on another elevation, are the Virneburg castle ruins and, on the two upper floors of the former school building, the local history museum with documentation of Virneburg's history.
Ortsgemeinde ArftThe local community Arft with its approximately 250 inhabitants is idyllically situated in the middle of an original heath landscape. The highest point is the Raßberg with 668 m above sea level. NN, at the foot of which is a small ski area. The Arfter Bach, one of the Nette's two source rivers, originates here. In addition to the eponymous town, there is the smaller district of Netterhöfe.
Ortsgemeinde BoosBoos was first mentioned in 1238. Today, the village with 610 inhabitants enjoys an excellent reputation as a popular hiking destination. Special highlights are the nature reserve "Booser Doppelmaar", which as a "Vulkanparkstation" is home to a unique flora and fauna and the "Booser Eifelturm" (currently locked), which offers fantastic views since 2003.
