Kylltal tour from Bitburg to Trier
Bitburg
On this varied bike tour, both the Kyll River and the train are constant companions. From the Eifel beer metropolis of Biburg, the route takes you along the Albachstraße to the Albachmühle. Here it is worthwhile to make a short stop. A stone staircase leads to the idyllically situated Mariengrotte with a waterfall. It has been a place of Marian devotion for generations.
In the charming village of Hüttingen/Kyll, another waterfall invites you to linger. The route continues along the railroad tracks via Philippsheim to Speicher. Here you ride very close to the Kyll river and with a little luck you might even spot a Kyll brook trout.
A few kilometers further on you will reach the village of Auw an der Kyll. Here it is worthwhile to stop at the inn "Altes Pfarrhaus" and sit down in the beautiful beer garden. A visit to the parish church of the Assumption of Mary, one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the southern Eifel region, is also worthwhile.
The journey continues via Kordel to Trier-Ehrang. From there you start your journey home by train to Bitburg-Erdorf. Arriving by train in Erdorf, fresh, regional cuisine with seasonal ingredients awaits you in the cozy restaurant Turmann.
ATTENTION - Closure with established detour:
Between Auw an der Kyll and Kordel.
Due to two road construction measures in Auw adK and Kordel and the missing farm road bridge at the Daufenbacher Mühle, additional information on the alternative routes in Kordel and Auw adK has been installed. Currently we recommend cyclists to change to the Deutsche Bahn between Auw adK and Kordel. All routes are equipped with detour signs for bicycle traffic, however, to bypass the construction site in Auw adK, a good 180 meters of altitude must be accepted by bicycle.
