Night hikers can look forward to the first full moon hike at the beginning of spring at the end of March. We will also walk through the night with the llamas during the harvest moon in August, the foggy moon in November and the July moon in December just before Christmas and let the moon illuminate our path.
A night hike is an almost mystical experience, even if we cannot guarantee the appearance of the full moon. When the moon is visible in the sky, it bathes nature in a silvery light, so that trees, llamas and we even cast shadows. As soon as our eyes have adjusted to the darkness, we not only recognize our path, but see almost as if it were daytime. Our other senses are wide awake - we hear and even smell much more intensely.
Depending on the weather and visibility, the hiking route leads from our llama pasture below Schönecken Castle right into the heart of the Schönecker Schweiz nature reserve. At the beginning, we descend to the Altburgbach stream and climb the opposite shoulder. From there, we enjoy a wide view over the hills by moonlight. Passing graceful junipers and orchards, we return to our pasture. Here we have to say goodbye to our faithful companions, the llamas.
